Our story
A small shop run by anglers, with a single obsession: tackle that earns its place on the river.
We started small — a workbench, a wall of rods, two people and a shared conviction that good tackle should be chosen by people who fish, and reach you ready for the water rather than gathering dust in a warehouse.
How it started
Fluvain grew from a frustration shared by two friends who spent years buying fly tackle and wondering why so much of it was chosen by people who never picked up a rod. Walls of near-identical gear, marketing instead of advice, and nobody who could tell you which line actually suited your river.
The answer was simple once stated plainly: stock only what we would fish ourselves. Carry a tight, considered range. Know every item well enough to recommend it without reservation, and ship it fast. It meant turning down a lot of product — but the quality of advice justified every gap on the shelf.
Today we work directly with a small group of makers and distributors who share our approach. Every rod, reel and fly we carry has been cast, fished or tied with on the water. We taste-test nothing in a meeting room; we test it on a river, and we tell you honestly what it is good for.
The shop today
We keep our range deliberately tight: a handful of rods for every water from spring creek to surf, reels with drags we trust, the lines and leaders that make them sing, proven flies tied by hand, and the wading and tying gear we use ourselves.
Orders ship within 48 hours on standard working days. If you are not sure what you need, write to us — a real angler reads every message and answers within a working day.
What we stand for
01
Chosen by anglers
Everything on our shelves has been fished, cast or tied with on the water. If we would not carry it to our own home river, it does not go in the catalogue.
02
Built to last a lifetime
A good rod or reel is a thirty-year companion, not a season's purchase. We favour tackle that can be serviced and repaired, with fittings chosen for the long term.
03
Honest advice
We will tell you when a cheaper line will fish just as well, or when you do not need the upgrade. Specifications you can trust, and a straight answer when you ask.
How we choose tackle
Source
We work with a small group of makers and distributors who share our standards. New tackle comes to us in small quantities, on trust built over years rather than catalogues.
Fish it
Every rod gets cast, every reel gets a fish on it, every fly pattern gets tied with and fished before it earns a place on the shelf. We test on real water, in real conditions.
Spec it honestly
We publish the details that matter — line weight, length, action, drag, materials — and we describe what each item is genuinely good for, not what marketing would have us say.
Ship it fast
Orders are picked, checked and packed by hand and ship within 48 hours on working days. Rods travel in their tubes; everything arrives ready for the water.
